The Canyon County Historical Society dates back to 1972 when a group of concerned citizens came together to preserve the historic Nampa Train Depot from demolition. The society’s charter is to preserve the history of the early pioneers who arrived by wagon and later by train to make a new home in Idaho’s sage brush covered frontier. Those early pioneers set the cornerstone to what eventually became Canyon County and Nampa, Idaho. The historical society has two museums to celebrate and interpret that pioneering spirit: the Nampa Train Depot located in downtown Nampa and the Indian Creek Museum located in Caldwell.
